Pneumonia Vaccine FAQ

The Pneumonia vaccine protects against pneumococcal disease.

 

There are 4 different pneumonia vaccines:

  • PCV13 (Prevnar 13®)
  • PCV15 (Vaxneuvance®)
  • PCV20 (Prevnar 20®
  • PPSV23 (Pneumovax23®)

 

We only carry PCV20, which is approved for individuals older than 18 years of age.

Patients who are 65 years and older whom have never received a Pneumonia vaccine or previous vaccination history is unknown. Patients 19-64 years with certain risk factors – such as asthma, kidney and liver disease, diabetes, cardiovascular issues, asplenia, and sickle cell disease.

  • Fever
  • Nausea
  • Fatigue
  • Headache
  • Muscle Pain
  • Soreness and redness at injection site
